How to make your own band sander

There are two approaches you can follow so you can make your band sanders. You may buy a couple of blades and put handles on them. It works as an effective alternative to the traditional band sanders when you have no power tools for that job. You can clamp a long strip of sand paper – 500mm long would do – to a work bench and hold the knife while running the handle up and down on the strip of sand paper.

Another way to make your band sanders is going the opposite way but also using long strips of sand paper with tape on the back. You can put the work in a vice or a little detachable table so you can loop the sand paper around your work.
You can then pull it back and forth and soon before you know it, you are working with your alternative band sander. However, the decorator rolls may come off the backing but it is normal since you just made your own version.
